It all started in 1979 with one man, a truck and a dream for a better life. Larry Williams criss-crossed
the USA in the early days as an owner-operator for North American Van lines, which was one of the
largest trucking companies in the country at the time. He developed a reputation for being the
“go to guy” and was promoted into their prestigious “high value products division” in 1985.
Larry was specially chosen in 1986 to be a primary provider of transportation
for IBM Corp distributing computers up and down the east coast. His one
truck grew into a fleet of five, and he quickly developed a reputation within
the IBM and North American organizations as a man of integrity who always
followed through on commitments. His wife Virginia kept the books and payroll,
and Larry’s son Jeff came on board to learn operations in the family tradition.
Lava Enterprises, Inc. continued in this capacity until 1994 when
it officially started to operate under its own authority. At this time
Larry’s other son Brandon came on board to handle sales and
to oversee the start up of a brokerage division. Lava Enterprises,
Inc. quickly developed the reputation for providing premium
truckload service, specializing in on time deliveries.
The brokerage division expanded rapidly and became a strong support system for overflow freight that
company equipment could not cover. This two dimensional approach allowed Lava access to thousands
of trucks all over the country moving van, flat and expedited freight.
